The decision by some of the world’s top ICT companies such as Google, Ebay and Yahoo to locate their European headquarters in Ireland demonstrates that the computing sector is a key driver of the Irish economy. However, the shortage of qualified computing graduates to supply these companies with the skilled workforce they require is of increasing concern.
Tipperary Institute’s suite of computing programmes is designed to provide graduates with a broad knowledge of core aspects of computing including computer hardware and software, data communications, information management, mathematics and interpersonal skills. Graduates can expect to take up employment in industries ranging from the large multinational companies to small or medium enterprises.
Graduates will acquire the necessary knowledge to cope with the changing nature of the computing industry throughout their careers. The programmes provide a broad range of modules in computing to enhance the employment prospects of graduates and their knowledge of the programming and computing domain.
