The Source Arts Centre and Tipperary Institute are delighted to provide second level students and all art enthusiasts with the opportunity to view Contemporary Ireland, a unique and exciting exhibition focusing on the great work of Irish contemporary artists. The exhibition is on loan from the Collection of the Arts Council, and is mounted in the Tipperary Institute and The Source Gallery. Described as a ‘must see’ for all leaving certificate art students and a “profound educational experience” , the exhibition presents the work of such esteemed artists as Tony O'Malley, Brian Bourke, Vivienne Roche, Robert Ballagh and Barrie Cooke among others and has been carefully selected to show both the breadth of contemporary Irish work and the rich range of media used. Many local students have been availing of the opportunity to visit the exhibition. Commenting on the exhibition, Patrick Cummins and Michael Daly, students at Colaiste Mhuire Co. Ed stated “there are no worries about the time and cost associated with travel to galleries in Dublin. This is a two part exhibition located beside our school at Tipperary Institute and the Source Gallery. ‘Contemporary Ireland’ enabled us to go back at our convenience to review the works of art in our own time.” A free workshop for Leaving Certificate Art students will be presented by local art teacher and artist Regina Dorney on Wednesday 22nd of April at Tipperary Institute.
