| Dúrlas Óg Exhibition opens at Tipperary Institute |
Tipperary Institute is delighted to announce the opening of a wonderfully exciting exhibition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the foundation of local juvenile GAA club Dúrlas Óg at its Thurles Campus from Thursday next 19th November. Featuring archive photographs from a number of sources and hurling photographs by club stalwart John O’Loughlin, L.I.P.F., the exhibition retraces the history, memories and achievements of Dúrlas Óg over the past thirty years.
Founded in 1979 to revive hurling and football in Thurles, Dúrlas Óg has in the intervening period enjoyed a remarkable run of success, wining titles at U12, U14 and U16 in both hurling and football. The club also holds the honour of being the only Tipperary Club to win Féile na nGael.
Commenting on the exhibition John O’Loughlin, who is a member of Thurles Camera Club, stated, “This is a wonderful opportunity to relive memories of past successes and take a trip down memory lane thanks to all those who have provided photographs. The hurling photos feature mainly current and former Dúrlas Óg players in action.”
The exhibition will be officially opened by former Tipperary All Star hurler Eddie Enright on Thursday 19th November 2009 at 8:00pm, in Tipperary Institute, Thurles and will run until 12th December. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
