Wireless Services
There are two campus wide wireless services in Tipperary Institutes.
Tippinst-WIFI is a campus wide wireless service to provide fast Internet access for students staff and guests of the institute. The service doesn't require any authentication and should be able to provide internet connectivity for all Internet devices (pdas, mobile phones etc).
Wireless_Internal is a wireless extension of the Local Area Network and is available to staff and students using their normal account and passwords. Users should have access to all the network services they have on the wired network. There is detail below of how to configure your laptop to connect to this service.
How To Configure XP & Vista Client
1. If the WPA2 option in Windows XP is not available you must install the Windows hot-fix located above
2. Re-start PC
4 Password is you Novell password
Allow Windows to Control your network and select ADD
Add SSID Wireless_Internal
Network authentication is WPA2 or WPA2 enterprise.
Data encryption is AES
Select PEAP as EAP type the go to properties.
Select Validate server certificate
Deselect TIPPINST CA if already selected.
Select Thwate premium server CA
Select Secured Authentication method as EAP-MSCHAPv2
Select configure
Deselect automatically use my windows logon name
Save your changes.
When asked to authenticate use the following.
Username is your Novell account name
Password is your Novell password
Domain is TIPPINST
